Designing Logos for Your Promotional Umbrellas
March 18th, 2010Promotional umbrellas are the idea product for large conferences and even sports events. Even international wrestling matches make use of beautifully designed umbrella to advertise their local tours. You can do the same, as a component of your overall advertising campaign.
Colour Matters
Do not be deluded by those who make use of only black and white when printing on the canopy. While it is not generally easy to strike a balance of colours (especially if you are financially limited to one or two panels only), the reward is quite beneficial to the communication capability of your advertisement.
As a rule of thumb, make use of solid, bright colours. If you can, stick to bright, primary colours. Red, black and yellow are by far the best colours used in print advertising.
The Effect of Colours
As we have mentioned, red, black and yellow are effective in conveying the advertisement. But have you ever thought, why? Red is a naturally pleasing colour, and creates a sense of urgency in the audience. This is the reason why many fast food restaurants have banners with predominantly red backgrounds.
Black on the other hand is the best colour for text. Since we have been staring at books printed with black ink all our lives, people find it easier to read text printed in black (in contrast with text printed in violet or green).
The reason for this is when the eyes take notice of black text the vision is locked within the text (since the colour is deep and bright) and is forced to continue reading. Also, black does not fade easily, especially if dye sublimation is used in the imprinting process.
The Logos Shape
If you want people to take notice of your company logo, it’s best to present a round logo as opposed to a narrow, oblong logo. The reason for this is again the appreciation of the image- people are more like to explore the dimensions of a nice round figure. You can also print text around the borders of the round figure, and people can easily read the text as they look at the logo.
Hopefully these tips are useful to you when you think about purchasing some promotional umbrellas for your next campaign. A well thought out design will get you noticed and give great brand recall.
