Promotional Umbrellas – Come Rain or Shine
Many things had been said about the use of promotional umbrellas but bottom line is that a promotional product can take the company name to the top. Some are exceptionally successful in advertising the company in a very cost effective way and the promotional umbrella is one of these.
This success is due to its versatility. Unlike other seasonal promotional products, a promotional umbrella will be used anytime of day or night, whether it rains or it shines. A printed umbrella will shield the user from the harmful effects of both ultra violet rays and from torrential rain.
Promotional umbrellas are given to employees during company events and to customers during a product launch. They can also be given as a prize in sports competitions and contests. All these would enhance the company image and hopefully would increase ROI.
Promotional umbrellas, often given in the most unlikely places, have an increased intrinsic value and would further the company’s goal of creating brand awareness. This could be a little hard as the weather is so unpredictable. But at the slightest sign of rain, a wise businessman would have a staff ready to hand umbrellas for people to use at train stations and bus depots. These people would be doubly grateful to the company for providing them with umbrellas to save them from being drenched. This would create an excellent lasting good impression.
People at the beach, at swimming pools or rivers are ready for the sunshine but even these sun worshippers would not say no to the offer of a promotional umbrella. They are aware of the need to protect themselves from the damaging UV rays of the sun. Because of the company’s thoughtfulness, more loyal customers will be gained and company growth and success will follow.

I’ve seen Promotional umbrella at my country, and as you said, we’ve also seen those umbrella in the beach, cafe or even on the top off roof some famous building.
And I’m wonder if this method will follow by other big company.

I must agree with a lot of what this article has stated. Umbrellas are something that some use more than others depending on their location in the world and they are certainly an item that everyone needs once in a while and are likely to be gracious to receive such an item.

A brolly is a great gift rain or shine and with a wide surface area, creativity is the limit to what promotional message can be placed on a umbrella. Umbrellas are easily misplaced or lost but this can be a blessing in disguise as they may land into new hands.

There’s a lot of promotional umbrella in my country. Most of the company from private sectors tend to use the umbrella as their marketing tools. As Carlos said, even we have lost the umbrella, it still serve the purpose of promotional items even it is on other hands.

Nice idea for developing a relationship with customers. When a company will help people from being drenched , It will make a positive impression towards company. Therefore people will identify all goods or services useful for themselves. A promotional umbrella not only impress people who will use but also other people who seeing those umbrellas in rain or shine using people.

I agree with this article and think that promotional umbrellas are indeed a very good marketing product. You wrote that handing them out to people who need them in places where they arent available will be very helpful to them. This will save them from rain/sunshine and they will respect and promote the brand and this in turn helps even more. A nicely written article that explores a common item as a promotional product.

Promotional umbrellas are another good tool to market ones product.Businesses like Hotel, Spas etc can afford to give out free umbrellas to customers.when they use there umbrellas outside the Hotel, Spa will get publicity.
And as bobby said even if customer looses Umbrella, it will still serve the purpose of promotion.

Promotional unbrellas indeed good and practical presents. It is actually a product people not only use, but use often and on the streets, (in public) where the company logo would be visible to all passing by. Should it come a brighter colour, people would sure take a notice of it, and with the umbrella the logo too. Marketing something in the clever way.

Promotional Umbrellas,a cool option for advertising and the best part about them is that they can be used for longer time during the year. And their visibility is also very high as compared to pen or caps for Promotional Umbrellas.

Umbrella is a good way to promote your companies product. But very less eyes go on them so very less people prefer to promote their products..
But during rainy seasons the Umbrellas might be of your help to promote products

The metaphorical significance of a umbrella providing comfort and security should not be forgotten. Besides the practical use of a umbrella and its potential for marketing and advertising. this non tangible and emotional link should not be ignored but emphasized if possible.

I seem to agree a lot with most of you here.
Now a days we see a lot of companies using promotional umbrellas as advertising avenues. Few days ago I saw a man carrying a “AIRTEL” umbrella and the first thing that came to my mind was “NICE!!”

Promotional materials are at their best when they come in the form of something useful - this means it will stay in circulation for the maximum amount of time.
Promotional pens are common, but once they ahve run out they just get thrown away whereas articles like umbrellas, mugs and mousemats all just keep on getting used, and therefore getting the maximum amount of exposure.
I stayed in a hotel once that had promotional umbrellas in the lobby for people to pick up and use, and I saw them all around the city and even on the ferry home.

promotional umbrellas are work like roof of the buildings….to marketing the products the promotional umbrellas are important view in the structure of the company….

I don’t think using umbrellas as a promotional product will be that effective as other items like travel bags or caps. I agree that it will more visible than caps or keyrings, but still it won’t bring better outputs. Umbrellas are rarely used anywhere and even if it used , it is only in a particular period.

To promote the umbrellas are a good tool for the products on the market.
Umbrella is a good way to advertise your product companies. But very few people prefer to advertise their products.

umbrellas are not used in every part of the country. but there are parts where its a part and parcel of life of people in the region. in such regions umbrellas can very well act as a fine equipment in promoting the name of the company to a great extent.

I do agree with conrad’s comment, the success of this strategy is largely based on the environment.
But talk about being there when your customers needs you!
Giving out promotional umbrellas is a excellent strategy.
Not only are you helping your customers out in their time of need, you’re advertising for your company and creating goodwill all in one giant swoop.
That’s just a good idea all around.

At my town. At least 3 mega store will give us umbrella as promotional gift. But you must buy stuff more than 10 dollar. Then, you will get umbrella. If you buy below than that, you will get some key chain or pen. Its interesting idea to make people buy more product at their store. So, i guess. Using umbrella is intereting idea for promotional stuff. I believe many seo or manager know how to attract more people come to their store.

A Brolly is a great gift weather, bad weather and with a large surface, the creativity is the limit for what the advertising can be an umbrella. Umbrellas are easily lost or lost, but it can be a blessing disguised May land, as set out in new hands.

Great tool during the rainy season or in hot countries where people use umbrellas to protect themselves from the sun.
I mean, look how many people will see your product / service.
It also looks more hi-so if a company gives an umbrella instead of pens/pencils. I personally like getting them as I lose them often.
September 30th, 2008 at 10:56 am
I think this is one of my favorite promotional items since in our country it is usually used often. May it be in summer or rainy season umbrellas is one of the most used promotional products in our country. Children tends to love this sort of items especially if such umbrellas have vibrant colors and designs. Older people loves to used it in the beach and during summer season to protect our skin from harmful UV rays umbrella is one of the best choice to use. Its like a walking advertisement whenever people go they are going to see whats written in the umbrella

Umbrellas are really nice promotional tool. It’s very flexible and logo of the company can be put anywhere on the umbrella so that people can see it. Another thing is that umbrellas are not only used in rain, but also in very hot days, especially on the beach. This way there will be bigger exposure of the logo.

I partly agree with other posters that umbrellas are more effective in areas that recieve more rain. Ofcourse the frequency of use is most important, and lets face it, it doesnt rain everyday. As well the cost for making umbrellas are obviously more costly then making pens or travel bags which will be used more often and that frequency gives greater exposure.

The umbrellas can be used in rains and also in burning heat. Yes indeed , umbrella’s have high cost of production, compared to pens and calenders. But still the advantages of umbrella overcome its cost factor. It is beneficial to company as they can write more of content on the umbrellas. Also the life of umbrella is much more, because an umbrella is retained more bya customer than a pen.

I really agree that promotional umbrellas are the practical gift. Because you need it either when the day rain or shine. By giving umbrella as a gift to your customers, I believe they’ll appreciated it.
Giving the beautiful design of promotional umbrellas also important. This will not only attract your recent customers but other people around them too.

Awesome info! I was honestly just thinking about something similar to this the other day so, it was almost “weird” when I ran across this. You would be surprised how many people simply have no idea when it comes to this kind of stuff. Anyway, thanks for getting this info out there and I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciates you taking the time to post this for the masses.
